USAID funded Boko Haram, other terror groups – US congressman

A member of the US Congress, Scott Perry, has raised concerns about the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) allegedly funding terrorist organizations like Boko Haram. During a recent subcommittee hearing, Perry highlighted the misuse of taxpayer funds and questioned the distribution of millions of dollars to groups associated with terrorism.

The subcommittee aims to collaborate with the Department of Government Efficiency to address financial irregularities and prevent fraud. Perry specifically criticized USAID’s reported allocation of funds for projects in Pakistan, citing a lack of evidence for the construction of schools and educational programs. He emphasized the need for transparency and accountability in the distribution of aid to prevent the inadvertent support of terrorism.

Additionally, there have been calls from US President Donald Trump and entrepreneur Elon Musk to reevaluate the operations of USAID. Both have expressed intentions to streamline government functions and eliminate inefficiencies, with Musk accusing the agency of engaging in questionable activities and advocating for its closure. Their efforts align with a broader initiative to reduce government bureaucracy and enhance operational effectiveness.
