Uzodimma presents ₦756bn 2025 budget to Imo Assembly

The Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, unveiled the state’s 2025 budget amounting to ₦756 billion at the State House of Assembly. The budget, named the “Budget of expanded economic opportunities,” totals ₦755,588,041,220.

During the presentation, Uzodimma highlighted his administration’s accomplishments over the past five years, emphasizing his dedication to advancing the state under the ‘Shared Prosperity’ agenda.

He mentioned ongoing initiatives to enhance critical infrastructure, such as rural road construction in all three senatorial zones and the Imo State Electricity Distribution (ISED) project aimed at providing round-the-clock electricity.

The governor also reiterated plans to dredge the Oguta Lake and Orashi River to link them to the Atlantic Ocean and mentioned intentions to entrust schools to religious bodies in 2025 to enhance education quality.

Uzodimma further discussed agricultural strategies, including the development of Achara Ugbu Farmland for large-scale agricultural production and support for the Ada Palm project to increase palm oil output.

The government pledged to modernize key markets like Eke Ukwu Owerri Market and revitalize industrial areas like the Onitsha Industrial Layout, as well as similar zones in Orlu and Okigwe.

Plans to establish new layouts and collaborate with developers to enhance housing estates across the state were also announced by the governor.
