Victims of Anambra stampede buried amidst tears

In Okija, Anambra State, a tragic stampede occurred during a Christmas rice distribution event, resulting in the loss of 21 lives, mostly women and children. The victims were laid to rest in an inter-denominational burial service at St. Mary’s Field, Okija. Community members, survivors, and notable personalities attended the solemn event.

Bishop Rommy Nzomiwu and Rt. Ralph Okafor led prayers and offered words of comfort to the grieving families, urging them to find solace in God. The founder of the Obijackson Foundation expressed condolences and vowed to prevent such tragedies in the future through continued community service.

The traditional ruler of Okija commended the foundation’s philanthropic efforts and encouraged them to persevere despite the unfortunate incident. Chief Daniel Chukwudozie donated N10 million to support the victims, while attendees shared their sorrow and prayed for the departed souls.
