VIDEO: How doctor forgot scissors inside me, told me to shed weight after I complained – Nursing mother

A mother of three in Lagos, Okoye Ogochukwu, is seeking justice after experiencing complications from surgeries at a hospital in Ajao Estate. Ogochukwu shared that she faced swelling and pain due to remnants left inside her during a C-section in May 2023. Despite raising concerns about her condition, she was dismissed by her doctor who made light of her complaints.

After being rushed back to the hospital, another doctor discovered retained objects in her womb, leading to a second surgery. Unfortunately, this surgery also left her with unresolved issues as stitches were not properly removed. Ogochukwu expressed frustration at the lack of attention from her initial doctor and the subsequent complications she faced.

Following three traumatic surgeries within two months, Ogochukwu was informed that her womb was severely damaged, preventing her from having more children. The financial burden of over N3 million in medical expenses added to their distress, with little support or acknowledgment from the hospital.

Demanding full reimbursement and a formal apology from the hospital, Ogochukwu highlighted the emotional, financial, and physical toll she endured. Despite seeking compensation, the hospital offered only a fraction of the expenses, further adding to their disappointment.

Efforts to reach the hospital for a response were unsuccessful. Ogochukwu’s story sheds light on the importance of accountability and proper care in healthcare facilities, emphasizing the need for transparency and support for patients facing such challenges.
