Why I sampled hit songs in new album – D’banj

A well-known artist known for his captivating performances, has shared the inspiration behind incorporating some of his previous hit songs into his latest album, ‘The Entertainer D’ Sequel’.

During an intimate boat cruise album listening event, the artist mentioned, “Most of my earlier albums were released before the digital age, which is why I decided to sample some of my popular tracks.

“Feeling the pressure as the 20th anniversary of my debut approached, I aimed to complete the album by December last year, but due to various reasons, I ended up creating some of the tracks in January and February.”

The artist also shared that ‘Serious,’ an Afropop rendition of Busta Rhymes’ ‘Dangerous,’ is the oldest track on the album.

Other songs on the album include ‘Kala’ featuring Awilo Logomba, ‘I Am Legend’ with Wyclef Jean, ‘Healer’ featuring Peruzzi, ‘Koko Remix’ with Akon, ‘Yours Truly’ with Phyno, and ‘Worthy’ featuring Youssou N’dour, among others.
