The former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, expressed disapproval of his successor, for showing up without invitation at the Rivers State House of Assembly Quarters.
He mentioned that the successor should have sought permission before visiting, especially after the Assembly Complex was demolished in December 2023.
During a media chat in Abuja, it was emphasized that the Assembly should have been informed of the successor’s visit.
Subsequently, the successor was denied entry to the assembly quarters when attempting to present the 2025 Budget as instructed by the Assembly following the Supreme Court’s ruling recognizing the Speaker.
The successor claimed to have informed the Speaker about the visit and the state government had sent an official letter to notify the House.
The former Minister criticized the successor’s actions, questioning the appropriateness of his actions and accusing him of seeking public sympathy.
Emphasizing the need for approval before entry, he highlighted the disruption caused by the demolition of the old complex, resulting in the Assembly convening at their quarters.
He condemned the successor’s actions as inappropriate and criticized the attempt to present the budget without proper authorization, labeling it as a publicity stunt.
