Zamfara explosion: Ex-gov Yari pays hospital bills as NEMA visits victims

A team from the National Emergency Management Agency was dispatched to assess the situation at the Usmanu Danfodio University Teaching Hospital in Sokoto State following an explosion at the Chemical Market in Talata-Mafara, Zamfara State. The explosion, caused by the improper disposal of a cigarette remnant, led to a fire that resulted in significant damage and injuries to 50 individuals.

NEMA reported three fatalities and 46 injured persons receiving treatment at the hospital due to the severity of their conditions. The victims were distributed across various hospital divisions for treatment.

Former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdul Aziz Yari, pledged to cover all medical expenses for the 50 explosion victims. The Zonal Coordinator of Senator Yari Constituency Office confirmed the commitment to continue paying for the medical bills until the victims are discharged.

The victims were swiftly evacuated to the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital in Sokoto for immediate medical care as directed by Senator Yari. The Chairman of Talata Mafara LGA confirmed two deaths and 42 individuals hospitalized, with the Police Anti-bomb Squad investigating the cause of the explosion.
