A recent statement from the National Emergency Management Agency confirmed the safe return of 171 Nigerian citizens who were stranded in Libya. The returnees arrived at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport in Lagos State on board an Al-Buraq aircraft. Upon their arrival, various agencies including NEMA, Nigeria Immigration Service, and others were present to offer humanitarian support to the returnees.
The group of returnees consisted of men, women, and children. They are set to undergo training, counseling, and medical assistance at a Transit Camp in Lagos before being reintegrated back into society. Earlier in the year, NEMA also facilitated the return of 149 individuals from Niger Republic, emphasizing the dangers of irregular migration and the importance of staying safe.
