2027: Oyo APC leaders mobilise for Tinubu’s re-election

The State Chief of Protocol to President Bola Tinubu and Convener of PBAT Again 2027 Support Group, Amb Adekunle Adeleke, on Sunday, mobilised party chieftains and members across the 33 local government areas of Oyo State for the re-election of the President in 2027.

The pro-Tinubu support movement, which formally unveiled his new office at Obafemi Awolowo Way, Oke-Bola, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, said the project was driven by a broader political vision anchored on continuity and national stability.

He said, “Today is about reinforcing a political idea and a shared commitment to continuity, stability, and progress in Nigeria. The movement is a structured platform for grassroots engagement and coordination.”

Adeleke described the campaign as a strategic effort to sustain ongoing reforms, adding that, “PBAT Again 2027 is not merely a slogan; it is a deliberate call to consolidate reforms and deepen governance outcomes.”

He, therefore, called for unity within party ranks, warning against internal divisions and underscoring shared responsibility among supporters.

“Our strength will come from cohesion, not division, and our actions must consistently reflect integrity and service,” urging members to align personal ambitions with collective goals.

Also speaking, a former Senate Chief Whip, Hosea Agboola, said he was aligning with the movement in support of Tinubu’s administration, describing it as a decision borne out of conviction and a desire for sustained national development.

Agboola, a former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state, who dumped the party in December 2025, described the PDP as a platform that had lost its ideological direction and internal cohesion, arguing that it was no longer positioned to offer a credible alternative for governance.

He said any form of opposition against Tinubu would not derail the ongoing reforms or the broader development agenda of the current administration.

“I have taken time to reflect deeply on the state of our politics and governance in Nigeria. What I see today is a leadership that, though facing challenges, is making difficult but necessary decisions for the long-term stability of our country.

“President Tinubu is steering reforms that many may not immediately appreciate, but which will, in time, reposition our economy and strengthen our institutions.

“The PDP, as it stands today, is deeply fragmented and disconnected from the realities of governance and the aspirations of Nigerians.

“It is not about personal interest for me; it is about standing on the side of progress, and I believe that progress is better served through constructive engagement with the current administration rather than opposition for opposition’s sake,” he said.

A governorship aspirant on the platform of the party and senator representing Oyo South, Sharafadeen Alli, maintained that the early mobilisation effort reflected a growing unity within the ruling party in the South-West and a shared commitment to consolidating existing reforms ahead of the 2027 general election.

“The increasing political engagement at the grassroots level is a clear indication of the party’s preparedness and strength in the region. The APC in the state and indeed the South-West is becoming more structured, more focused, and more connected to the people.

“What we are witnessing is not just political activity, but a deliberate effort to deepen party unity and strengthen support for the President’s reform agenda.

“For us in this state, our priority is continuity of good governance. We cannot afford to return to instability or policy inconsistency.

“The task before us is to ensure that the gains already being recorded at the national level are sustained and expanded for the benefit of all Nigerians,” Alli noted.

The state coordinator of the group, Olatunde Sunmonu, described the inauguration as a landmark moment for supporters of the President in the state.

He noted that the office represented a firm commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda and provided a platform for mobilisation, engagement, and policy dialogue across Oyo State.

Other dignitaries at the event were the state APC Chairman, Moses Adeyemo, senator representing Oyo North, Abdulfatai Buhari; senator representing Oyo Central, Yunus Akintunde; a chieftain of the party and governorship aspirant; Akeem Agbaje; member of the House of Representatives, Akeem Adeyemi (Skimeh);  former House of Representatives member, Muraina Ajibola; Femi Awogboro; representing former Minister of Power and governorship aspirant, Adebayo Adelabu; leader of the Igbo community, James Oramadike; and other party leaders and stakeholders across zones spoke at the event.

Oseni declares Senate bid

Meanwhile, a member of the House of Representatives, Remi Oseni, currently representing Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, on Sunday, formally declared his intention to contest the Oyo South Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections.

Oseni made the declaration during a meeting with party leaders, supporters and stakeholders across the senatorial district at the Recreation Club in Ibadan, the state capital.

At the event, the lawmaker described his political journey as one rooted in purpose, sacrifice and responsibility.

He explained that his ambition was driven by a continued commitment to service rather than personal advancement.

“What began as a modest political movement has grown into a formidable structure with influence across the state, built on the dedication and unity of his supporters.

“It started as a movement through God’s grace, but today, it has become a household name across the state. What once looked ordinary has transformed into an unstoppable movement for justice, equity and a better life for our people,” he said.

He noted that the gathering was convened not only to review progress and strengthen internal cohesion ahead of the 2027 elections, but also to formally communicate his next political direction.

“As your leader and servant, it is my duty to inform you of my next political path so that together we can align our vision, our strategy and our resources towards its realisation. I seek your prayers, your support and your endorsement,” he said.

The lawmaker emphasised that his approach to politics had always been anchored on service to the people, stressing that leadership is defined by responsibility rather than position.

“I have not come with entitlement or pride, but with purpose. Politics for me has never been about personal glory; it has always been about service and sacrifice. Leadership is not about position, but about responsibility.

“I have served well, and I am prepared to serve more. My mission has always been to make life meaningful and more enjoyable for our people, and that will not change regardless of the office I occupy,” he stated.

He highlighted some of his achievements in office, including infrastructural projects such as road construction, school and hospital interventions, as well as empowerment programmes for youths, women, traders and artisans.

The lawmaker also referenced his legislative contributions, including motions on road maintenance funding and calls for improved healthcare access, particularly for patients suffering from critical illnesses.

Speaking on his political structure, Oseni said his movement, which he described as a mobilisation platform for development and political participation, spread across all 33 local government areas of the state.

“My ambition to become a senator is not a departure from service, but a continuation of it. The office may change, but my mission remains the same: to serve, to impact and to leave a legacy.

“We remain committed to the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

“Through our Renewed Hope structure, we are mobilising across the state, and by the grace of God, we are confident of delivering over one million votes for the President,” he said.

Also speaking, the current senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District and governorship aspirant, Alli, urged party members and stakeholders to rally behind Oseni, describing him as a committed party man with a track record of grassroots engagement.

“Oseni has shown capacity and dedication in his current role. I encourage party faithful and the people of Oyo South to support him as he seeks to serve at a higher level,” he said.
