The upcoming 20th edition of the Doregos Basketball Championship is scheduled to commence on November 9, featuring 27 schools from Lagos and Ogun states.
Top Field College, Apapa, the defending champions, will face strong competition from 26 other schools, including the hosting school, Doregos Private Academy.
During a press conference at the Olorunisola Campus of Doregos Private Academy in Ayobo Ipaja, the organizer, represented by Adebisi Adegbulugbe, assured that the competition’s high standards would be upheld.
Adegbulugbe emphasized the importance of fair play and adherence to the rules, discouraging the participation of external players or overage students, highlighting the championship’s aim to foster emerging talents in Nigeria through student competition.
To ensure a seamless competition, coaches underwent a workshop on the updated game regulations conducted by prominent referees from Lagos State.
The championship will be held in four zones spanning Lagos and Ogun states, running from November 9, 2024, to February 13, 2025.
