A businessman from Delta State, Mr. Onainor Patrick Ewere, has taken legal action against the Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Customs Service and others at the Federal High Court in Asaba, Delta State. The dispute involves the ownership of a Lexus GX 460 with specific identification numbers.
In the lawsuit, Mr. Onainor asserts his rightful ownership and absolute possession of the vehicle. The court document specifies a deadline for the defendants to respond and warns of potential judgment in their absence.
The plaintiff seeks a declaration from the court affirming his ownership and entitlement to the Lexus GX 460 in question. He challenges the legality of an alleged auction sale of the vehicle and disputes the transfer of ownership.
Following a dispute over customs duties, the plaintiff claims that the vehicle was forcefully taken by officers and transported to Benin City. Despite his efforts to retrieve the vehicle, it remained untraceable.
The situation escalated when the vehicle was recovered by the police, leading to the arrest of individuals who claimed ownership through various transactions. The vehicle is currently in police custody in Delta State.
Attempts to reach the Nigerian Customs Service for comments were unsuccessful. An unnamed officer from their Public Relations Unit suggested that the matter should be handled through official channels.
