Customs seize N71.7m smuggled items in Adamawa, Taraba

The Adamawa/Taraba Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has seized items worth N71.7m between August and September from suspected smugglers, as revealed by Customs Area Comptroller, Mr. Garba Bashir. The seized items included 33,595 liters intended for smuggling into the Republic of Cameroon, three vehicles, 200 bags of foreign flour, rice, and 10 bales of second-hand clothing. These items will be auctioned due to their inflammable nature. Bashir emphasized the need for officers to be vigilant in combating smuggling activities and urged smugglers to engage in legitimate business to support economic development. The command is committed to eradicating smuggling activities in Adamawa and Taraba states and seeks support from security agencies and citizens in providing intelligence on smuggling.
