In a recent incident on the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway in Lagos State, a diesel-laden tanker overturned, causing a spill that raised concerns among residents in the area. The event occurred during the early hours of the day as commuters were heading to work. Photos from the scene showed residents trying to contain the spilled diesel.
Authorities swiftly responded to the situation, with the Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Adebayo Taofiq, confirming the incident. Emergency responders, including LASTMA officials and the fire service, acted promptly to control the spill and prevent further risks.
LASTMA officials cordoned off the affected area to ensure the safety of everyone involved. Sola Giwa, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, emphasized the importance of adhering to traffic laws and safety measures, urging all stakeholders to prioritize the well-being of individuals and property.
The state government remains dedicated to enforcing traffic regulations to prevent similar incidents in the future.
