The Federal Government is implementing the Rural Emergency Service and Maternal Transportation initiative to save 1.7 million pregnant women in rural areas from maternal death. This project, in collaboration with the World Bank, aims to improve access to timely and affordable healthcare for pregnant women. The initiative will be launched in 15 states, including Ekiti, to provide emergency care for women and children under five. The World Bank will supply ambulances in these states for transporting pregnant women and children to healthcare facilities. The goal is to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates by addressing transportation challenges in rural areas. The initiative will involve community engagement to ensure the sustainability of the service and improve healthcare delivery.
