During the 15th convocation ceremony at Joseph Ayo Babalola University, a generous donation of ₦50 million was announced by a notable individual, who was represented by Ekiti State’s First Lady. The endowment fund was specifically designated to support the overall best female graduating students of the university. The individual was also honored with an honorary doctorate at the event.
The Pro-Chancellor of the institution revealed that the donation would be spread over 10 years, with each top female graduate receiving N5 million annually for a decade. This initiative, named the Senator Oluremi Tinubu Prize for Academic Excellence, aims to recognize and reward exceptional achievements among students.
The Vice Chancellor encouraged the graduating students to uphold the university’s motto of “For Knowledge and Godly Service” and become positive influences in the university’s development and Nigeria as a whole. A total of 626 students received undergraduate degrees, with 114 graduating at the postgraduate level. Notably, there were 50 first-class honors, 290 second-class upper division, 215 second-class lower division, 67 third-class, and four pass graduates recognized at the ceremony.
