The senator, represented by his Chief of Staff, received an award titled “Icon of Hope” from the Association of Local Government Vice Chairmen of Nigeria, emphasizing the significance of LG administration as the foundation of democracy.
He stressed that Local Governments serve as a vital link between the central government, state governments, and local communities, playing a key role in identifying and addressing local needs.
The senator also mentioned his efforts to support local governments through initiatives like the Paris and London club loan refunds, aimed at enhancing their effectiveness.
At the 7th Annual National Conference of ALGOVC, the National Chairman acknowledged the senator’s contributions in strengthening LG administration, particularly through securing financial support like the Paris and London Club loan refunds.
In a recent development, the Nigerian Senate expressed its support for the Supreme Court’s ruling granting financial autonomy to the 774 LG councils nationwide. The Senate urged all levels of government to comply with the judgment and planned to work with the House of Representatives to make necessary constitutional amendments for its implementation.
