The English Football Association recently issued disciplinary actions across various football leagues for misconduct by players, coaches, and agents. More than 50 cases were highlighted in a release titled “Disciplinary charges, responses and suspensions for December 2024.” Three Premier League players faced sanctions:
– Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers received a £80,000 fine and a two-game ban for improper conduct during a match against Ipswich Town.
– Jhon Durán of Aston Villa was given a three-game suspension following disciplinary rulings related to a game against Newcastle United, where he was dismissed for violent conduct and additional improper behavior.
– Rodrigo Bentancur of Tottenham Hotspur faced the most severe penalty, a seven-match ban and a £100,000 fine for racially insensitive language used during an interview in June 2024.
These actions reaffirm the FA’s commitment to maintaining integrity within the sport and upholding a zero-tolerance policy towards discriminatory behavior.
