The head of the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority mentioned that efforts are being made to improve public transportation services in Lagos for the convenience of its residents.
During an inspection of the Marina Train station and Mile 2 transport interchange hub, it was stated that the state government is focused on reshaping public transportation by integrating different modes of transport.
The completion of the Mile 2 interchange is expected within the next 12 to 13 months, playing a significant role in the Lagos Strategic Transport Masterplan. This masterplan aims to establish a well-connected network that integrates road, rail, water, and non-motorized transport.
The interchange hubs will act as crucial transfer points, ensuring a seamless journey for commuters. The goal is to encourage Lagosians to opt for public transportation as their primary mode of travel.
The implementation of the 13-kilometre Mile 2 to Marina Lagos Blue Rail Line is anticipated to revolutionize transportation in Lagos, particularly benefiting residents living in Mile 2, FESTAC, and Amuwo-Odofin areas.
