Ideye eyes Eagles return, savours Enyimba resurgence

Enyimba striker Brown Ideye has expressed his willingness to make a comeback to the Super Eagles following his impressive performance with the nine-time Nigeria Premier Football League champions Enyimba.

The 36-year-old has netted two goals as a substitute in three matches for the Aba giants since joining them on a short-term deal until the end of the 2024/25 season.

His goals have played a significant role in Enyimba’s success in both the NPFL and the CAF Confederation Cup.

He scored his first goal in the CAF Confederation Cup game against Black Bulls and followed it up with the winning goal against Nasarawa United in a rescheduled NPFL match.

Ideye mentioned his readiness to represent his country again if given the opportunity, emphasizing that he is not retired from international football.

Returning to the Nigerian topflight after 17 years, Ideye is optimistic about the team’s prospects and credited influential figures like Kanu and former coach Yemi Olarenwaju for their support.

Enyimba has climbed two spots on the NPFL table to seventh place with 27 points after Ideye’s impact in the match against Nasarawa United.

Their upcoming fixtures include a crucial CAF Confederation Cup clash against Al Masry of Egypt and a pending NPFL game against Kwara United.
