A 20-year-old man was apprehended by the Delta State Police Command for his alleged involvement in the killing of a 10-year-old girl in the Orhoakpo Ethiope East area. The incident took place on January 9 and the suspect confessed to kidnapping the girl for two individuals who later murdered her. The police were alerted by the victim’s sister, who is also the girlfriend of the suspect, after noticing her sibling was missing.
The suspect admitted to taking the girl to meet the two men who killed her and buried her in the community. He claimed that the girlfriend agreed to his request the second time he approached her. The police are still searching for the girl’s remains and the identities of the two men involved.
The police emphasized the importance of community vigilance and prompt reporting of suspicious activities to prevent such tragedies. Another incident involving a 23-year-old man allegedly hacking his father to death with a cutlass was also reported in the Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State.
