Ogunlana assumes office as N’Assembly clerk

The ninth Clerk to the National Assembly has officially assumed office, succeeding the previous clerk, Sani Tambuwal. The handover event occurred at the National Assembly complex in Abuja, with the attendance of management staff and dignitaries. In a statement, Tambuwal handed over the responsibilities to the new clerk, Kamorudeen Ogunlana. Ogunlana praised Tambuwal’s leadership and expressed gratitude for the historic occasion.

Emphasizing the significance of his new role, Ogunlana likened the Clerk to the National Assembly to a Head of Service, highlighting the evolving responsibilities associated with the position. He acknowledged the management of a large staff and legislative aides, as well as hosting prominent figures like the President within the National Assembly. Ogunlana also commended Tambuwal for grooming his successor, underscoring the importance of leadership succession.

As he outlined his plans, Ogunlana pledged to promote transparency and collaboration within the management team. He acknowledged his expertise in legal and legislative matters, seeking Tambuwal’s guidance on financial issues even after his departure.
