The Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps recently apprehended five individuals involved in various criminal activities such as illegal firearms possession, gun running, kidnapping, banditry, and job racketeering. The operation led to the recovery of several firearms including automatic rifles, an AK-47 rifle, an FN rifle, locally fabricated pistols, a bayonet, and uniforms from the Nigerian Forest Security Services. The arrested suspects were identified as Umar Ibrahim, Nura Abubakar, and Mohammed Sule. They were caught in Wamba Local Government Area of Nasarawa State while in possession of the weapons they intended to sell. The suspects confessed to being deceived into the illegal activities by a man named Ali who is currently evading arrest. In a plea for leniency, they urged others to avoid criminal activities. Additionally, a volunteer with the Nigerian Forest Security Services in Bauchi State, Lar Changkur, was arrested for suspected involvement in gunrunning. Another individual, Felix Clerkson, was apprehended in Nasarawa State for job racketeering after over 120 fake appointment letters into the NSCDC were discovered during the investigation. Clerkson admitted to defrauding victims of over N26m, with ongoing investigations revealing a total of N55m scammed. All suspects will face charges in court once investigations are completed.
