Recently, the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons moved 300 Internally Displaced Persons to the Keffi Resettlement City in Nasarawa State.
The Federal Commissioner of the NCFRMI, Aliyu Tijani Ahmed, handed over 40 homes to the 40 households within the group of 300 IDPs.
Ahmed mentioned that the establishment of the city aligns with a vision to provide hope for all Nigerians, regardless of their circumstances.
He also announced plans to relocate more IDPs to the city in the near future.
There are intentions to eventually integrate the IDPs into the community, as part of an ongoing project to construct more houses and bring in more people, according to the NCFRMI boss.
He emphasized that all IDPs relocated to the city did so voluntarily, stating that those who volunteer to be in the city will undergo a profiling process for relocation.
Furthermore, Ahmed explained that the IDPs are free to stay in the city for as long as they desire, with plans for a comprehensive exercise after the fasting period to settle and integrate them into the community.
