The House of Representatives Committee on Public Petitions has requested the presence of the Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority, Richard Dauda, and the Director of Development Control, Galadima Muktar, at a hearing scheduled for Tuesday, March 11, 2025.
The summons is in connection to concerns raised about a property under development that allegedly violates building codes in the Federal Capital Territory. A petition submitted by Samuel Ajayi highlighted the potential disruption to the FCT masterplan if the construction is allowed to proceed. The property in question is situated in the Gusape Cadastral zone of the FCT.
Committee Chairman Mike Etaba emphasized the importance of accountability and fair hearings for all parties involved. He assured that the committee would thoroughly investigate the matter before reaching any conclusions.
In a separate matter, the Committee has also called upon the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Samuel Ogbuku, to clarify the situation surrounding an unfinished contract for the construction of the Okpai shoreline protection and landing jetty in Delta state. The request follows a petition filed by Lynpat Solicitors against Orbit Marine and Energy Services Limited for abandoning the project.
Etaba warned that the NDDC must address the concerns, and failure to do so could result in further actions being taken.
