The Katsina State Governor, Mallam Dikko Radda, on Thursday, at the council’s headquarters in Katsina, inaugurated members of the Independent Campaign Council and unveiled vehicles as part of his reelection efforts.
Radda urged the council’s officials and members to work harmoniously with other political groups in the state to achieve the All Progressives Congress’ objectives of electoral success across the 34 local government areas of the state.
He expressed confidence in the party’s preparations for the 2027 general elections, saying the council should mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu, himself, and other APC candidates.
The governor said “the calibre and experience of members of the council would contribute to its activities ahead of the elections.
“I assured this council of my administration’s support and continued engagement to facilitate its activities,” Radda added.
Earlier, the Director-General of the ICC Katsina State, Engr. Abubakar Abdullahi Matazu said the council had established a five-member structure for each polling unit across the state.
Matazu said the structure comprised three women and two men, adding that “the arrangement was aimed at strengthening the council’s grassroots mobilisation efforts.
“The council is targeting 600,000 votes for Tinubu, Radda, and other APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.
Matazu, thus, appealed to the governor for continued support, even as he reaffirmed the council’s commitment to supporting his administration.
In his welcome address, the council’s secretary, Dr Kabir Abdullahi, highlighted the administration’s achievements in human and capital development.
He described Dikko Radda as the APC leader in the state, saying, “Residents had witnessed various development initiatives since the administration assumed office in 2023.”
He emphasised, “Katsina had recorded political, economic, and social developments under Radda’s leadership.”
The secretary recalled the governor’s political journey in 2023, expressing confidence in the APC’s preparations for the 2027 general elections.
He insisted that the administration’s first-term achievements and promises delivered would form part of its engagement with voters across the 34 local government areas.
