The Cross River State House of Assembly recently confirmed the appointments of the Chairman and members of the State Independent Electoral Commission, as well as members of the State’s Internal Revenue Service. These appointments were approved following a request from the state government, conveyed in a letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof Anthony Owan Enoh. The Speaker of the House of Assembly, Elvert Ayambem, advised the newly appointed members to uphold fairness, integrity, and impartiality in their roles and to refrain from engaging in partisan activities.
The Independent Electoral Commission members endorsed by the House of Assembly include a Chairman, a Secretary, and several other members. Similarly, the members of the State Internal Revenue Service were confirmed during a plenary session, comprising a Chairman and additional members.
