Kano motorists lament as fuel sells N1,000 per litre

In Kano State, several drivers are urging the Federal Government to take firm action against fuel sellers who are exploiting the public by charging excessively high prices. The cost of fuel has surged to between N980 and N1,000 per liter at gas stations in the area. Drivers are concerned about what they perceive as greedy marketers who are prioritizing profits over the well-being of the people by creating artificial shortages and raising prices regularly.

Motorists have observed that many filling stations, including those affiliated with IPMAN, have shut down despite having fuel in stock. This behavior is causing frustration among the public as they face long queues at the few stations that remain open. The escalating fuel prices are not only affecting transportation but also leading to increased costs of goods and services, impacting the economy significantly.

The chairman of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria in Kano acknowledged the high prices but explained that they are necessary due to the costs of purchasing fuel from other regions and transportation expenses. He highlighted the insufficient fuel supply from NNPC as a contributing factor to the current situation.

Overall, the situation has left motorists in Kano State deeply concerned about the impact of soaring fuel prices on their daily lives and the economy as a whole.
