Arokodare jokes about joining Madrid

A talented Nigerian forward, Tolu Arokodare, playfully mentioned the possibility of joining Real Madrid amidst speculations about his departure from Belgian club RC Genk, according to Sports Extra reports.

Arokodare, who emerged as Genk’s top goal scorer last season with 15 goals, has kicked off the 2024/25 season impressively, netting four goals in four games for The Smurfs.

In a recent match, the 23-year-old stood out by scoring twice to help his team secure a remarkable 4-3 victory over Beerschot, marking their first win in over ten years.

His remarkable goal-scoring record has captured the interest of Turkish Super Lig team Trabzonspor.

Arokodare’s contributions have been instrumental in Genk’s recent success, propelling the team to two consecutive wins after a slow start to the season.

Recognizing the striker’s value, Genk’s head coach, Thorsten Fink, emphasized that the club will only entertain serious offers for Arokodare, dismissing Trabzonspor’s chances.

“Trabzonspor is not in a position to acquire him,” stated the German coach to Het Belang van Limburg.

“We will not part ways with our top striker for a bargain. I trust our management and Dimitri de Condé to handle these matters effectively.”

Following his standout performance that secured Genk’s long-awaited victory at the Olympisch Stadion in Antwerp, Arokodare jokingly commented on the transfer rumors by mentioning Real Madrid.

“Maybe I’ll end up at Real Madrid. I’ve heard they are in search of a second striker alongside Mbappé,” he quipped.

“Just kidding. I have commitments with Genk and my focus is on this club, not on hearsay. As for my future? I can’t predict that. I’m clueless, man.”

Since joining Genk, Arokodare has scored 12 league goals in 33 appearances.
