A new CEO has been appointed at Andela, the talent outsourcing company that has seen significant growth. Carrol Chang takes over from Jeremy Johnson, who steps down as CEO but will continue to serve on the company’s board.
Chang, who previously held a leadership position at Uber and has experience at McKinsey & Company and the Department of Homeland Security, will join Andela’s board on September 17.
Expressing her gratitude for the opportunity, Chang stated, “I am deeply grateful for the privilege to lead Andela. It’s rare to find a mission-driven company that also has the potential to create a category-defining business. I’m inspired by the way Jeremy has led Andela to this point, and I appreciate the trust he and the Board now put in me to carry forward its mission.”
This change in leadership comes as Andela aims to expand its presence in the global talent market. The company, initially focused on training African software developers, has evolved into a talent marketplace and achieved unicorn status in 2021 following a significant funding round. In 2023, Andela acquired Qualified, an assessment platform for technical talents, to enhance its offerings.
Johnson, one of Andela’s co-founders, emphasized the importance of Chang’s leadership for the company’s future growth and in navigating the evolving landscape of global hiring.
Established in 2014, Andela has become a leading source of talented developers in Africa, having trained numerous tech talents on the continent and beyond.
