In the upcoming UEFA Nations games against Croatia and Scotland, Cristiano Ronaldo has secured his spot in the Portugal squad despite a lackluster performance at Euro 2024. The 39-year-old, who didn’t score during the recent European Championship, is backed by coach Roberto Martinez. Ronaldo expressed his commitment to helping the Selecao in an interview with Portuguese TV. He has started the new season strongly with four goals in four games for Al-Nassr. With Goncalo Ramos injured, Ronaldo is expected to lead the Portugal attack.
Portugal’s squad sees 17-year-old Geovany Quenda from Sporting Lisbon joining as a new face, along with Renato Veiga from Chelsea and Tiago Santos from Lille. Veteran defender Pepe has retired at 41. The squad includes players like Ruben Dias, Bruno Fernandes, and Joao Felix. The games are scheduled for September 5 and 8 in Lisbon.
