The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control recently closed down a table water factory in Delta State for allegedly participating in the production, sale, and promotion of unregistered and unsafe miracle water under false NAFDAC registration. This factory, situated at Km 4 DSC Expressway, Otokutu, Delta State, was collaborating with a faith-based group, Christ Mercy Land Delivery Ministries, led by Prophet Jeremiah Omoto.
NAFDAC, through its Director-General, Prof Mojisola Adeyeye, highlighted that none of the products being marketed and distributed were approved by the agency. The agency received complaints regarding the Miracle Water and Miracle Soap promoted by the ministry, claiming to possess healing properties like fertility enhancement and twin births if used. Despite insistence by the ministry that the products were NAFDAC registered, investigations revealed no such registration.
Following investigations and unsuccessful attempts to engage with the ministry, NAFDAC sealed the factory for involvement in the production and sale of unregistered and potentially harmful products. The agency cautioned the public against purchasing these unapproved miracle products and emphasized its commitment to ensuring only scientifically vetted products are registered and sold in the market.
NAFDAC reiterated its dedication to protecting the health of Nigerians and warned faith-based organizations against illegal production of regulated products without meeting regulatory standards.
