The Lagos State Government has put in place a comprehensive traffic management plan to ensure smooth traffic flow along the Lekki-Ajah corridor as the Dangote refinery prepares to start operations and distribute refined petrol to outlets. The Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Transportation, Sola Giwa, emphasized the government’s commitment to citizens’ welfare and orderly traffic.
Giwa mentioned that the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority is equipped with modern tools and trained personnel to regulate traffic effectively in the affected areas. Residents and commuters in the Lekki-Ajah vicinity were assured of the government’s preparedness and urged to trust in their capabilities.
Collaborating with relevant stakeholders, LASTMA has deployed advanced tow trucks and emergency response equipment to address potential traffic disruptions promptly. Medical ambulance services are also on standby for quick emergency response.
Strict adherence to traffic regulations, especially by tanker operators in the Lekki-Ajah axis during loading and navigation, is crucial as the Dangote Refinery begins operations. The government will enforce these regulations rigorously to prevent traffic issues and ensure smooth vehicular movement.
The Lagos State Government reiterated its dedication to citizens’ welfare and orderly traffic management during this significant industrial phase. All motorists, particularly commercial bus operators, were cautioned to follow traffic laws, avoid unauthorized stops, driving against traffic, and obey road signs and signals for a well-functioning transportation system.
