The National Emergency Management Agency has increased its efforts to rescue flood victims in Maiduguri, Borno State. The agency’s Emergency Response Team is actively involved in search and rescue operations to provide assistance to those affected by the disaster. The Medical Intensive Care Unit team has offered medical outreach, administering first aid and treatment to 171 individuals in various camps.
NEMA is also focusing on providing clean water to areas in need. A water tanker has been dispatched to the Fannami Gubio Camp to address water shortages. Water purification trucks are on standby to treat floodwaters in areas with severe shortages.
Additionally, NEMA is collaborating with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) to set up a temporary health facility in the Modu Fannami Camp. The agency is working diligently to ensure that all camps receive the necessary support, including deploying sanitation teams and distributing cooking materials to those in need. Efforts are also underway to establish a Camp Clinic at Fannami Gubio Camp and supply essential medical supplies for ongoing care.
