NNSS 94 alumni unveil multi-million naira sports facilities

A group of alumni from the 1994 set of the Nigerian Navy Secondary School recently marked their 30-year graduation anniversary by donating a state-of-the-art sports center to the school. The sports center includes basketball, badminton, lawn tennis, and volleyball courts, as well as spaces for ground chess, ludo, and hopscotch. This facility, aimed at fostering the holistic development of students, was meticulously constructed on the school premises in Navy Town, Ojo, Lagos.

During the unveiling ceremony, Arc. Oyebola Amodu, the head of the project committee, expressed her joy at seeing the project come to fruition after a decade of planning. She highlighted that the majority of the funding for the sports center came from the 1994 set alumni, with a small percentage from external donors. The event was graced by the presence of Rear Admiral Mustapha Hassan, who praised the initiative for its potential to enhance the nation’s reputation.

The commissioning ceremony attracted former teachers, school management, and notable guests from the Nigerian Navy. The highlight of the event was friendly basketball games played on the newly inaugurated court, symbolizing the enduring spirit of camaraderie and commitment to giving back to the community among the alumni.
