Juventus Sporting Director Cristiano Giuntoli shared the challenges he faced in securing Victor Osimhen’s transfer to Napoli from Lille in 2020. It was a four-month process that ultimately brought the talented 25-year-old striker to the Italian club for around €75m. Osimhen had already proven himself as a top striker during his time at Lille, scoring 13 goals in 27 matches from 2019 to 2020.
Giuntoli expressed his initial frustrations during the transfer negotiations but praised Napoli’s decision to acquire Osimhen, highlighting the player’s impact on the team, especially in winning the club’s third Scudetto after a long wait.
Following successful seasons with Napoli, Osimhen and the club have parted ways, with the player rejecting offers from other leagues and opting for a loan to Galatasaray. Despite this, Giuntoli’s admiration for Osimhen remains strong, with rumors circulating about Juventus’s interest in signing the striker, contingent on Napoli reducing their price.
Currently, Osimhen is making a mark at Galatasaray, contributing with assists and aiming to score his first goal for the Turkish Super Lig champions. The club is pleased with his performance on and off the field, considering extending his stay beyond the initial loan period.
