A recent announcement from the Bayelsa State Government reveals the recruitment of 1,500 teachers to serve in primary and secondary schools throughout the state.
During a meeting of the Bayelsa Elders Council in Yenagoa, the governor’s Deputy, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, shared this update on behalf of the governor.
In addressing concerns about science and technology education, the governor highlighted the establishment of technical colleges in five of the state’s eight local government areas.
Plans are underway to construct three more technical colleges in the remaining local government areas as contracts for this expansion will soon be awarded.
Out of the 1,500 recruited teachers, approximately 400 will be allocated to the new technical colleges, 230 to primary schools, and the largest portion of 930 teachers will be assigned to secondary schools.
