A woman shared her personal experience of leaving home unexpectedly after a party incident. She mentioned how a spontaneous gathering with friends led to a confrontation with her mother, resulting in her decision to run away. Seeking refuge at her grandmother’s house, she eventually ended up in Kano State and later traveled to London with an older man. Despite the challenges she faced, she believes her actions paved the way for her younger siblings to live overseas and her parents to travel abroad regularly. Reflecting on her past behavior, she acknowledged the difficulties she caused her mother and the realization that came with motherhood. She emphasized the importance of not solely blaming parents for a child’s actions, as external influences can also play a significant role. She advised parents of difficult children to be understanding and patient, recognizing that sometimes, life experiences can be the best teacher.
