As an excellent educationist turns 80

Educators hold a special place in my heart. Their dedication and passion for shaping young minds often go unnoticed. I had the privilege of being under the tutelage of an exceptional university lecturer who inspired me with his commitment to teaching. This experience made me reflect on the selfless nature of educators who devote their lives to nurturing others.

I vividly remember my former secondary school principal, whose 80th birthday recently passed. She exemplified the qualities of an outstanding educator. Throughout my educational journey, I have encountered many inspiring teachers like her. Their love for imparting knowledge is truly commendable.

Reflecting on my time at school, I am grateful for educators like my principal who played a significant role in my development. Their impact often becomes more evident with time, as we grow to appreciate the lessons they instilled in us. I regret not expressing my gratitude to her during my school days, but I do so now, acknowledging all teachers who dedicate themselves to shaping young minds.

My principal was not just an educator but a caring mentor who went above and beyond for her students. She ensured our well-being and academic success, even lobbying for transportation facilities to ease our commute to school. Her strict but fair approach instilled discipline and respect among the student body.

She had a vision for holistic education, involving the community in our learning through practical initiatives like agriculture projects. Her proactive efforts in providing adequate infrastructure and maintaining school facilities set her apart as a dedicated school leader.

In contrast to the exemplary leadership of educators like my principal, I observe a concerning trend in school management today. Neglect of school infrastructure and lack of commitment to student welfare seem prevalent. It is essential for school administrators to prioritize the well-being of students and actively contribute to the betterment of educational facilities.

Educational institutions require proactive and engaged leadership that values the legacy they leave behind. Neglecting the needs of students and facilities reflects poorly on school administrators and impacts the overall educational experience. I am grateful for the impactful lessons imparted by educators like my principal, whose dedication continues to inspire me.
