Barau congratulates Yusuf on winning Kano APC gov ticket

The Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, has congratulated Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, following his affirmation as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Yusuf was on Thursday affirmed during a gathering held at the Sani Abacha Stadium, where thousands of APC supporters from the 44 local government areas of Kano State reportedly attended despite heavy rainfall.

According to Barau, the affirmation followed procedures contained in the Electoral Act and the guidelines of the APC.

This was contained in a statement personally signed by the senator on Thursday, in which he disclosed that he moved the motion for the affirmation of the governor, while Senator Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila seconded the motion.

Barau said the Chairman of the APC Congress Committee from the party’s national headquarters, Mukhtar Shagari, subsequently declared Yusuf as the APC governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Kano State.

“I heartily congratulate His Excellency, the People’s Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, on his emergence as the governorship candidate of our party for the 2027 general election,” Barau said.

He expressed confidence that residents of Kano State would renew Yusuf’s mandate during the governorship election scheduled for February 6, 2027.

“Insha Allah, the good people of Kano State, who continue to witness and appreciate the numerous developmental projects across the state, will once again give him their mandate,” he added.

The senator also expressed optimism that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and APC candidates contesting National Assembly seats would emerge victorious in the January 16, 2027 elections.

“Together, we will continue working tirelessly to address the challenges facing our people and deliver greater dividends of democracy,” Barau stated.
