The Benin Electricity Distribution Company has completed the installation of a new 33 KV feeder to enhance electricity supply to the Federal Secretariat and surrounding communities in Ikpoba-Hill, Benin, Edo State.
The Chief Technical Officer of BEDC, Lawani Jonathan, announced the completion of the new feeder line at Ihovbor station in Edo. The 33KV line, connected from the Ihovbor station under the Transmission Company of Nigeria, will power two injection substations serving the Federal Secretariat and other areas in the vicinity.
Jonathan mentioned that the TCN has finalized an upgrade, enabling more power distribution to distribution companies.
Additionally, a new feeder was constructed to ease the load on the existing Egba 33KV, which supplied electricity to multiple injection substations along different routes. This development allows for the evacuation of an extra 23 megawatts from the Ihovbor station.
These improvements grant BEDC increased wheeling and evacuation capabilities with an additional 33KV feeder line. Performance reports will be submitted to the National Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) accordingly.
