Religious leaders from diverse faiths came together to emphasize the importance of collaboration in addressing climate change challenges and its environmental impact. They expressed their support for the shift from fossil fuels to clean energy sources as a means to combat global warming. The commitment was made during a conference in Abuja with the theme “Multi-faith National Dialogue on Medium and Long-term Climate Goals,” organized by GreenFaith Nigeria, a non-governmental organization that unites believers from various religions for climate justice.
During the event, the Chief Imam of the Al-Habibiyyah Islamic Society in Abuja highlighted the need for interfaith leaders to work together in combating climate change. He stressed the role of faith leaders in raising awareness and advocating for a transition to a sustainable future. The Executive Director of the Kukah Centre in Abuja also urged participants to broaden their discussions on climate change beyond oil-producing regions, emphasizing the environmental challenges faced in other parts of the country.
The Global Programme Director of GreenFaith emphasized the power of collective faith in driving positive change and guiding leaders during this critical time. The conference aimed to harness this collective power to inspire change and work towards a better future.
