Speculation arises around a potential return for Victor Osimhen to Napoli as the team faces challenges in scoring goals, particularly with current striker Romelu Lukaku’s struggles.
Napoli recently experienced setbacks, losing in the Copa Italia and Serie A matches against Lazio, resulting in them relinquishing their top spot in the league to Atalanta.
Lukaku’s lackluster performance, with only five goals in 15 games, has drawn criticism from fans and his manager, who voiced concerns about the team’s attacking efficiency.
“We need to enhance our performance in this aspect; we are close but lacking the final touch. We are actively addressing this,” remarked Conte after their recent defeat.
Meanwhile, Osimhen is excelling at Galatasaray, where he is currently on loan. The Nigerian player has scored 10 goals and assisted five times in 13 matches, contributing significantly to his team’s lead in the Super Lig with 38 points from 14 games.
Despite rumored interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United in activating his release clause, Napoli’s director Giovanni Manna has refuted these claims.
“No official talks have taken place. Victor belongs to Napoli and is currently with Galatasaray. There is a lot of speculation, but nothing concrete,” clarified Manna in an interview.
A potential return of the striker to Napoli could offer a solution to their scoring woes, as Conte acknowledges the need for more efficiency in the final third.
Osimhen recently scored a goal in Galatasaray’s win against Sivasspor, converting a penalty in the first half to support his team’s pursuit of another league title.
The Nigerian forward has become a vital player for the Turkish team with his scoring ability and playmaking skills, playing a crucial role in their domestic campaign.
