#EndBadGovernance: Children should be in school, not detention – Senator

A senator representing Kogi Central has strongly criticized the detention of minors involved in recent protests, labeling it as unfair and inhumane.

The senator has called for an investigation into the detention order granted by a Federal High Court judge and emphasized that minors should be treated in juvenile courts.

The senator also raised concerns about the conditions of detention for juveniles in a specific prison, highlighting issues such as malnourishment and inadequate facilities.

Appealing to the government for compassion, the senator urged the release of the detained minors, stating that they may have been influenced by irresponsible adults to commit offenses.

The senator stressed that children belong in educational institutions, not in detention facilities.
