A former senator representing Ogun West, Tolu Odebiyi, has declared his intention to return to the National Assembly, announcing that he has obtained the All Progressives Congress senatorial nomination form for the 2027 election.
Odebiyi disclosed this in a statement issued by his media office on Thursday, saying his decision followed the party’s adoption of Senator Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, as its consensus governorship candidate in the state.
He described his planned return to the Senate as “strategic and necessary” to sustain development in Ogun West, stressing the need for experienced lawmakers to complement ongoing reforms by the Federal Government.
The former lawmaker also commended President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies, including fuel subsidy removal, exchange rate unification and tax reforms, noting that such measures require legislative backing to achieve long-term stability.
Odebiyi, who represented Ogun West in the 9th National Assembly, said his previous tenure recorded interventions in education, infrastructure, agriculture and empowerment programmes across the district.
He added that his legislative activities included the sponsorship of bills and motions aimed at addressing both regional and national issues.
The ex-lawmaker said his representation was driven by a people-centred approach, citing efforts to address challenges such as infrastructure deficits, water supply and the economic impact of COVID-19 on constituents.
“As we move forward, this is not a time for experimentation or underperformance. It is a time to consolidate gains, leverage experience, and ensure our district is strategically positioned in the next phase of national governance,” he said.
He urged voters to support his bid, pledging to deliver “credible and results-driven representation” if elected.
