After the autopsy report was released on his son’s tragic death in a Umuahia swimming pool, Ephraim Onyemereneche, the father of the deceased, is expressing concerns about what he perceives as a “conspiracy of silence” among the investigating agencies.
The incident occurred on April 4th, 2024, when a NAF Tarmac Four cadet named CDT Emmanuel Chidiebere Onyemereneche allegedly drowned in a hotel swimming pool in Umuahia during a visit with friends.
Despite efforts by the state fire service, the victim’s lifeless body was discovered and pronounced dead at the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia.
Subsequently, the police, Nigerian Army, and Navy acknowledged being informed about the incident.
However, following the disclosure of the autopsy results, the father addressed the media in Umuahia, alleging foul play in his son’s death and criticizing the lack of action by security agencies, referring to it as a “conspiracy of silence.”
He shared details of the autopsy conducted at the Federal Medical Center, raising questions about the response from the authorities and the lack of progress in the investigation.
Despite reaching out to various organizations and government bodies for justice, he expressed frustration over the perceived lack of action and transparency in the case.
The father emphasized the need for justice for his son, highlighting discrepancies in the handling of the investigation and urging for a thorough examination of the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The autopsy report, dated August 22, 2024, and signed by a Consultant Pathologist, indicated that Chidiebere’s death was not due to drowning, further fueling suspicions of foul play.
