FG still investigating civil servants receiving salaries from abroad — HoS

The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation recently provided an update on the government’s investigation into civil servants who are still receiving salaries despite having relocated abroad. The investigation is ongoing, refuting claims of abandonment and emphasizing the government’s commitment to ending such fraudulent practices.

This announcement was made during an event in Abuja marking the Head of Service’s 100 days in office. The initiative follows a directive from the President to recover money from civil servants who unlawfully receive salaries while living overseas. Additionally, supervisors enabling such practices will face accountability measures.

The investigation employs the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) to monitor employees’ whereabouts. The Head of Service acknowledged the progress made thus far and assured continued efforts to address the issue comprehensively.

Expressing gratitude for the support received, the Head of Service commended the ‘Super Permanent Secretaries’ for their assistance during her initial days in office. She highlighted the significance of the first 100 days in office for reflection, assessment of achievements, and setting future goals.

Collaborating closely with the Federal Civil Service Commission, the Head of Service aims to combat job racketeering within the service, emphasizing the need to sanction individuals involved in fraudulent job acquisition. Efforts are underway to eradicate such practices and uphold integrity within the civil service.
