Recent elections in the United States and Australia have seen the success of four Nigerian individuals in international politics. These individuals, Dr. Oye Owolewa, Segun Adeyina, Adeyemi Mobolade, and Chiaka Barry, have secured various elected positions in their respective countries and are making significant contributions.
Dr. Oye Owolewa, representing the District of Columbia, was re-elected as the Shadow Representative under the Democratic Party in the United States. He focuses on advocating for the interests of Washington, DC, including the pursuit of statehood and local governance matters.
Segun Adeyina retained his position as the State Representative for District 110 in Georgia. With a background in IT program and project management from renowned companies, Adeyina has been actively involved in leadership roles in Georgia, contributing to community development.
Adeyemi Mobolade made history by being elected as the Mayor of Colorado Springs, becoming the first Black individual to hold this position. His election marks a significant milestone for the city, showcasing its changing political landscape.
In Australia, Chiaka Barry secured a seat in the Australian Capital Territory Legislative Assembly, representing the Ginninderra District under the Liberal Party. With a legal background and expertise in various areas, Barry is dedicated to serving the community and has a strong commitment to public service.
The achievements of these individuals were praised by the NiDCOM Chairman/CEO, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, who commended them for their groundbreaking victories and contributions to the political landscape of their respective regions.
