Group empowers Abia students with scholarships, renovates school

The Grooming People for Better Livelihood Centre, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of Nigeria’s economically disadvantaged individuals, has made a significant impact in Abia State. By offering scholarships to students and revamping a local secondary school with modern amenities, the NGO is actively contributing to the community.

Recently, the organization undertook the renovation of St. Peter’s Secondary School in Awomnuzie, Ikwuano LGA, enhancing it with cutting-edge facilities to create an optimal learning environment. In a press release, the NGO’s management emphasized their belief in the power of education and their commitment to nurturing young minds by providing conducive learning spaces for growth.

The school now features new classrooms, fully-equipped science laboratories, computer labs, and modern administrative offices, complete with advanced learning tools such as projectors and interactive whiteboards. Dr. Godwin Nwabunka, the Founder and CEO of Grooming Centre, highlighted the organization’s dedication to ensuring every child has access to quality education, irrespective of their background.

Furthermore, as part of the 8th Lady Kate Okafor Scholarship Scheme, Grooming Centre has granted scholarships to 931 secondary school students to support their academic pursuits. This initiative aims to empower promising students and create opportunities for their educational success. The partnership with the Catholic Diocese of Umuahia has also been instrumental in advancing these efforts.
