The family of one of the victims of the recent helicopter crash involving the Sikorsky SK76 Helicopter operated by East Wind Aviation is requesting the release of their deceased relative’s body for a proper burial. The son of the deceased, Mr. Ledum Light, expressed shock and devastation upon hearing the news of his father’s passing. The tragic incident occurred four days ago when the helicopter, carrying NNPC workers, crashed, resulting in casualties.
Initially, reports indicated that three bodies had been recovered from the crash site, but later updates from the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau mentioned that two bodies were retrieved from the ocean. The search efforts also led to the discovery of a headless body believed to be one of the crash victims.
Mr. Light shared details of his last communication with his father before the incident, highlighting their plans for the day. He expressed the family’s distress over the lack of information regarding the recovery of his father’s body and emphasized the importance of locating and retrieving it for closure.
Similarly, Mrs. Mbet Ledum, the wife of the deceased, described the news as devastating and pleaded for assistance in finding her husband, whether alive or deceased. She stressed the family’s urgent need to reunite with their loved one, emphasizing the emotional turmoil they are experiencing.
Authorities and union representatives have been engaged in the search and recovery process, with efforts focused on locating the missing bodies and providing support to the affected families. The circumstances surrounding the crash, including the location and cause, are under investigation to ascertain the events leading to the tragic incident.
