Manchester City recently announced that their long-serving Director of Football, Txiki Begiristain, will be stepping down at the end of the 2024/25 season, marking the end of a twelve-year tenure at the club. The club confirmed this news in a statement on their website, stating that Begiristain will be leaving after the FIFA Club World Cup this summer. His successor, Hugo Viana from Sporting CP, will take over the role in the summer of 2025, with a transition period planned to ensure a smooth handover. Manchester City also mentioned that they will honor Begiristain’s significant contributions at the end of the season. Begiristain, who played a crucial role in City’s success since 2012, will leave a notable gap in the club’s leadership. His departure has sparked speculation about the future of Pep Guardiola, considering their close working relationship over the years.
